Morning Mist Intensive

PHLEGM-DAMP 痰湿

The fog that takes all morning to lift.

An eight-day decoction course for a Morning Mist season — when heaviness is the throughline and days feel harder to move through than they should. Built on Er Chen Tang, the “Two-Cured Decoction” — the tradition’s core formula for transforming dampness — at full strength.

Raw herbs, barks, roots, and berries, steeped at home daily for eight days. A fog of long standing may call for up to three courses.

Inside the formula — 11 herbs

Sovereigns

Chen pi (tangerine peel) — one of the two “cured” herbs; regulates qi through the digestion

Ban xia (pinellia) — the other; the tradition’s core phlegm-transforming herb

Ministers

Fu ling (poria) — steadies digestion and helps fluid move as it should

Cang zhu (atractylodes, stronger variety) — an assertive damp-drying herb

Assistants

Hou po (magnolia bark) — moves qi through the digestion and eases the fullness that comes with dampness

Bai dou kou (cardamom) — an aromatic that transforms dampness and promotes a clear head

Jie geng (platycodon) — guides the formula’s action upward, toward the chest and throat

Zhi shi (bitter orange) — a stronger qi-mover for more stubborn fullness

Da zao (jujube) — a gentle, sweet tonic that softens the stronger herbs

Envoys

Zhi gan cao (licorice) — harmonizes the formula and buffers the stronger herbs

Sheng jiang (fresh ginger) — warms the digestion and helps carry the formula through the system

Take the Intake — nine short sections, about five minutes, free.

Your reading names your climate (your body’s lasting tendency) and, if one is passing through, your season (the pattern active right now). It recommends a daily Regimen to keep your climate steady and, when a season is present, an eight-day Intensive course to bring you back to balance.
